Yippee! Our much loved clean-up events bringing individuals and groups from all over Auckland to beautify together will continue into the new decade!!
Over the past years, we've seen an increase in civic pride, neighbourly connections, placemaking and self identity of the communities who live within these streets.
Together, with hundreds of volunteers we've donated thousands of hours back to the communities and our living and built environments!
First stop of 2020: We're hitting Old Papatoetoe Town Centre on Saturday 15 February, 9 am - 12 pm.
Can you join us?
We need all hands on deck for this event, to paint, tidy, garden, plant, wash, remove green waste and litter!
We haven't hosted a community clean-up here since November 2016. But when we did, we donated over 350 hours of free service back to the community with all the volunteer help we had! (Even this little one helped, I wonder where he is now!?)

So, where did the Town Centre Clean-ups concept come from?
Flash back to 20 years ago, and South Auckland really did earn the name ‘Graffiti Capital of the South Pacific’, and we felt we needed to do more about than just remove the graffiti. It's more than just eradication, we needed to educate!
Together with the Manukau City Council we had been running odd events that were gaining more momentum each time! We knew the Town Centre Clean-ups were a winner - an easy, safe, no obligation and rewarding path for communities to give back that actually makes a big visible impact. (and the intangible benefits are also priceless too).
Today, the wider South Auckland community simply will NOT tolerate vandalism or litter, and even better civic pride is stronger than ever. Thanks to Len Brown!
Yes, originally a part of the Town and Local Centre (TLC) Clean-up Initiative, our annual sweep of clean-ups in Auckland’s Southern region town centres “TLC” was initiated by Len Brown and based on a similar programme we supported for several years in the former Manukau City Council.
Now a community wide effort that is set to make more of an impact for years to come!
Keen to be a part of our first clean-up event of the New Year? or know someone who lives, works or plays in Old Papatoetoe?
Kick 2020 off with a bang and join us, it's a tone of fun!
All you need to do is sign-up and turn up. We bring all the supplies and equipment to you! We even do a good old Kiwi BBQ, free for all those who pitch in.
