A Repair Café is free pop-up community event where where people can bring in their broken or damaged items, and skilled volunteers or experts make an effort to repair them. It's a place where repair, knowledge sharing, and sustainability come together.

Our Repair Cafés are free, however a koha (donation) is always appreciated!

Repair Cafés aim to fix a wide range of items, including but not limited to electronics, small appliances, furniture, clothing, bicycles, and jewellery. Bring in your broken belongings, and our volunteers will do their best to help you.

We want to make sure everyone gets a chance to have something repaired. For that reason, we will repair one item per person unless there is time for more.

We encourage you to sit with the volunteer while your item is being repaired. This ensures that your item can be assessed and repaired with your input, and also gives you the chance to learn new repair skills in the process.

Unfortunately we cannot make house calls. We would recommend contacting a professional repair service in this instance.

Our volunteers try to fix as many items as possible, but sometimes repairs may not be possible for a variety of reasons. In those cases, our volunteers may provide advice on professional repair services or recycling options, such as the Manurewa Community Recycling Centre. This ensures that the item is handled in an environmentally responsible manner.
