Ingredients
Half loaf of stale bread
2 tbs oil
Salt, to taste
Optional seasonings:
garlic powder
red pepper flakes or chilli flakes
parmesan
lemon zest
herbs
freshly cracked pepper
chicken salt
Method
Pre-heat oven to 180°C and line a tray with baking paper.
Rip bread into chunks and add to food processor. Pulse until crumbly. Alternatively, tear the bread apart by hand, careful not to squish it.
Spread crumbs evenly on the lined tray.
Drizzle with oil and salt, and toss to evenly coat.
Bake around 10 - 20 minutes until golden, checking after the 10-minute mark every 5 minutes to make sure it doesn't burn.
Once golden, pour the crisp crumbs into a bowl and toss with any optional seasonings of choice.
Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
