Quick & Easy Breadcrumbs

Ingredients

  • Half loaf of stale bread

  • 2 tbs oil

  • Salt, to taste

  • Optional seasonings:

    • garlic powder

    • red pepper flakes or chilli flakes

    • parmesan

    • lemon zest

    • herbs

    • freshly cracked pepper

    • chicken salt


Method

  • Pre-heat oven to 180°C and line a tray with baking paper.

  • Rip bread into chunks and add to food processor. Pulse until crumbly. Alternatively, tear the bread apart by hand, careful not to squish it.

  • Spread crumbs evenly on the lined tray.

  • Drizzle with oil and salt, and toss to evenly coat.

  • Bake around 10 - 20 minutes until golden, checking after the 10-minute mark every 5 minutes to make sure it doesn't burn.

  • Once golden, pour the crisp crumbs into a bowl and toss with any optional seasonings of choice.

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Top baked meat, casseroles, or pasta for an extra crispy texture to your meal!
