Quick & Easy Breadcrumbs

TIME TO MAKE

Ingredients

  • Half loaf of stale bread

  • 3 tbs oil

  • 1 pinch of salt, to taste


  • Optional seasonings, mix and match to taste:

    • garlic powder

    • red pepper flakes or chilli flakes

    • parmesan

    • lemon zest

    • herbs and spices

    • freshly cracked pepper

    • chicken salt

    • cinnamon sugar

    • cocoa powder


Method

  • Rip bread into chunks and add to food processor. Pulse until as fine as preferred. If you don't have a food processor, cut into small cubes to make croutons instead! The method will be exactly the same.

  • Heat oil on medium heat in a large skillet or pan.

  • Add in breadcrumbs and salt and continuously mix with a spatula until golden and toasty. Do not let darken too much or it will taste burnt.

  • Once golden, pour the crisp crumbs into a bowl and toss with any optional seasonings of choice until seasoning is evenly distributed.

  • Allow to cool completely in the bowl.

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Top baked meat, casseroles, salad, or pasta for an extra crispy texture to your meal!
