Beautification Trust Says Goodbye to Community Grocer Pop-up Manurewa

The Beautification Trust has been assessing whether to continue the Community Grocer next year, and we have made the difficult decision not to continue on with it.

Providing fresh kai to our community has been incredibly meaningful. Demand, however, has continued to decrease as supermarkets and local fruit and vegetable retailers are now able to offer comparable quality at more competitive pricing.

We really loved the idea when we started out, saving rejected produce from landfill, but since then this is no longer the case, as the items in the bag are now supermarket grade.

Thank you so much for your love and support for the Foodtogether/Community Grocer Pop-up Manurewa over the last two years. It's been really lovely for our passionate volunteers to be involved and make a difference in the kai space. We will offer the volunteers other opportunities within the Trust.
