The sun was shining and the shed was booming for the Beautification Trust's Boomer Shed Open Day last Friday.
Over 100 people came through to find out more about our community shed for people over 50. The visitors were treated to a tour with lots of hands-on activities to get stuck into – including making beeswax wraps, origami newspaper seedling pots, sewing, crochet, knitting and making yarn from plastic bags.
There was a big spread of morning tea to enjoy, and people made new friends and connections while tucking into the tea, coffee and tasty treats on offer. We're thrilled that so many people who visited signed up to become Boomer Shed members! We're looking forward to welcoming lots of new faces into the Shed.
And to put the cherry on the cake of a wonderful morning... Laura, the Activities Organiser from Bunnings Takanini, came along and surprised us with a donation of $1,000 worth of Bunnings gift cards for the Boomer Shed!
We were absolutely blown away and are so grateful to Bunnings Takanini for their generous support. They’ve been an absolutely fantastic supporter of the Beautification Trust for many years, pitching in to help with various events and projects. The vouchers will be put to great use replenishing materials, tools and equipment for the Boomer Shed.
