About the Event
The FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 Tamaki Makaurau Auckland Host City Programme invite you to join us for a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment while celebrating the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023!
We invite you to join us for the Puhinui regeneration planting day to celebrate the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. The planting area will be organised into 32 sections to provide a legacy for the 32 nations participating in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. You will be able to choose a section/s to plant for your favourite nation or team and of course you can also share the love across all (the world).
The event honours the practice of kaitiakitanga by respecting and caring for the environment and will include talks on the role of the maramataka (Māori lunar calendar), planting tips, composting and waste minimisation, a BBQ lunch and snacks will be provided.
What to bring: • sturdy covered boots or shoes • weather appropriate clothes • a bottle of water • spades and gloves (if you have them) - tools will be provided if needed. Special thanks for support from Te Pu-a-ngā-Maara, Trees that Count and The Beautification Trust.
A special thanks to Auckland Council for the support in this project with restoration, delivery and ongoing care to ensure a meaningful ngahere legacy.
