About the Event

Indulge in the perfect blend of caffeine and conversation at this community feedback event!

Grab a free coffee in exchange for your thoughts on what makes your coastlines special to you.

We are seeking to understand how local communities value and interact with their coastal spaces. This input will help Auckland Council develop a Shoreline Adaptation Plan that will outline how we respond to coastal hazards like erosion, flooding and sea level rise, both now and in the future.

🗣️ What’s in store?

  • Coffee on the House: Sip on a complimentary cup of coffee as you engage in meaningful discussions about the future of our coastlines. Snacks and nibbles will also be provided!
  • Shoreline Adaptation Plan: Learn all about the Shoreline Adaptation Plan programme for Tāmaki Makaurau and what’s in store for the coastal areas of the Tāmaki Estuary and Bucklands Beach to Pine Harbour.
  • Your Voice Matters: We want to hear from you! Join us for an interactive feedback activity on how you interact with the coast, and learn about how others can have their say.

What are Shoreline Adaption Plans?

Auckland’s climate is changing. With temperatures projected to increase, Auckland’s coastlines are expected to continue seeing the impacts of climate changes such as erosion, sea level rise and flooding. In the face of these challenges, Auckland Council is developing Shoreline Adaption Plans (SAPs) for each section of our coast. SAPs lay out a strategy for how Council-owned land and assets should respond to coastal hazards over the next 100 years. Understanding community values around these spaces is essential to making sure the SAPs responsive to community needs – that’s why we need your input!
