About the Event

The Beautification Trust invites you to our largest environmental clean-up for 2021! Get together with your community to help clean up the Puhinui Stream, from Totara Park down to the Manukau Harbour foreshore.

Bring the whole whānau, your friends, sports team, church group, work group or school class. There are family-friendly clean up sites, so everyone can take part. We'll supply the high vis vests, gloves and tools - all you need to bring is comfortable footwear and your community spirit!

Afterwards, we'll celebrate the difference we've made for our precious awa with a free BBQ and entertainment at the Botanic Gardens.

  • Saturday 8th May 8.30am to 12.30pm, followed by fun activities and a sausage sizzle.
  • Rain Date 22nd May, 2021

We're so grateful for the support of local businesses, environmental partners and mana whenua. This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of Panuku. We would also like to thank Wiri Business Association, Business Manukau, Auckland Botanic Gardens and CityCare for their support.

Make a difference...

Did you know 10 million tonnes of plastic waste is dumped into our oceans and waterways each year? That's 1 rubbish truck per minute!

Over time plastic breaks down into small pellets. These pellets look exactly like fish eggs, the favourite food of turtles and fish. Plastics permanently fill the stomachs of aquatic life, leaving no room for real food. This eventually causes the creature to die of starvation.

We can all play our part to reduce our consumption of plastic, remove it from our waterways and protect our unique aquatic life.
